New Canada-China Bilateral; Big AC Expansion

For all of those who have participated in the AC widebody order threads, this is one reason AC asked Airbus and Boeing for a comprehensive widebody/modernization growth deal, eventually replacing AC's current fleet and adding additional fins. The winner has to be able to deliver 777s or 346s starting NEXT YEAR. Do both have delivery slots for the summer schedule of 2006? The Canada-India bilateral is also being renegotiated and AC will want to start n-s service to Mumbai from YYZ and possibly one Indian destination from YVR. AC will need incremental fins by 2006, with more deliveries in 2007.

They want to increase YYZ-PEK to daily in 2006, start new YYZ-PVG summer 2006, and YVR-CAN in 2007.
It makes me a little bit wonder why CAN seems to be their lowest preference.

I hope AC will not be solely reliant on O&D Canada-China-Canada traffic and focus its marketing strategies for these new flights on American, Brazilian, Argentinian, Caribbean passengers as well who would fly to PEK and PVG via YYZ.

Yes, I believe they both do, as they do with other ongoing campaigns such as QF/AI. I don't think the order will come down to aircraft availability, although I'm not sure about the availability of the 346HGW, which you have consistently said is the type AC is looking at.
Do you have a timeline on the Indian bilaterals?

The Canada-India bilateral talks are in progress. I presume the fact AI is re-entering the Canadian market makes it more interesting for both sides to liberalize the current deal which, for all practical purposes, gives each side the maximum of a daily flight. At the very least, there should be room for another two daily flights for each side.

Where would a YVR flight most likely go to in India. Mumbai? or maybe another Dehli? Can any 777 or 346 do this route without restrictions or would a 345 or 777LR be needed?
