Jungel Jet?

Tue Apr 11, 2000 4:24 am

I posted this earlier replying to "Look at this BA beatuy" but nobody has answered my question   Twice, I 've seen people refer to the ERJ as the Jungel jet? Why? Where does this come from? This is new to me. Since when? Or was this started by the forum?

Let me know, I'm very curious about this...

The ERJ-145 is referred to as the "Jungle Jet" by it's flight crews in the UK because it's from Brazil. People associate Brazil with the rainforests - that's how the ERJ-145 earned the nickname "Jungle Jet"

I think it's a good name!

That's what I figured. Never heard it before. I think Amazon Jet sounds better.

They've been calling it the Jungle Jet almost from the start at Continental Express. It's also been called the Barbie Jet, Taco Jet, and Turbo Taco. (Taco is the COEX nickname for the Brasilia) Jungle Jet is the one that stuck.
