Aborted Take-Off: Thomsonfly AMS-Coventry

Wed Apr 20, 2005 8:55 am

experienced my first ever aborted take off, it was at amsterdam, just as the engines were spooled as the 737-500 began on its take off roll.
Captain said a red warning light had come on, we went around the taxi way back to the beginning of the runway and off we were again.
It was the 10pm departure from AMS.

What made the Light go out.Why was it not taxied back for Mx to check it.
An Aborted T/O is an Incident. There are Regulations to be followed. The Aircraft can just go back & T/O again.

I wouldn't want to be on a flight from Coventry with an aborted take-off if it had got up any decent speed the runway is only 5,500ft long.

Leaves little margin for error or for an aircraft to break if it had built up a considerable speed.
