Most Daily Flights Between 2 Cities

Wed Apr 20, 2005 9:43 pm

I just read somewhere that between Amsterdam and Paris there are 15 daily flights.  hyper
What cities have more or the most daily flights ? I think that 15 daily's is quite a lot myself.

In Europe, DUBLIN - LONDON (ALL AIRPORTS) must surely have the most number of daily flights.

Hong Kong-Taipei must be one of the biggest for international flights - even more remarkable when most of the flights are widebodied too.

Between two cities, not airports, was the topic I believe. Chicago to NYC, LA to San Francisco, Washington to NYC or NYC to Boston. For the USA, its gotta be one of those.

Is this supposed to be by a single airline or total number of daily flights?

If by total number of daily flights.. then DCA-LGA/BOS would certainly be up there also..

Not that long ago there was a thread regarding the most daily flights between two domestic cities, including an argument that flights between EEU countries were considered domestic. Tried to find the thread in the search but no success.

This was discussed about a month ago. ( I know the search funcion lacks). I believe we came to the conclusion its actually Dallas-Houston routes.

WN DAL-HOU 29 daily
AA DFW-HOU 9 daily
AA DFW-IAH 10 daily
CO DFW-IAH 9 daily
57 total flight...impressive

Well, that would probably only be within Schengen. Flights between the UK and the rest of the EU are certainly not domestic.

Tokyo to Osaka

ANA - 23
JAL - 27

Probably more than half are 777 or 744. Not as many flights as London - Amsterdam, but surely more seats.

On the SYD MEL QF have about 35 flights a day, and DJ about 22. These are one way, so between them there are at least 104 flights between SYD and MEL a day.

Note These figures are approx, based on daily average.

The numbers are also direct non-stop point to point services.

Well, you'll find that EWR/LGA/JFK -> BOS and
IAD/DCA -> EWR/LGA/JFK both have over 70/day, more than the Dallas-Houston route.

Maybe not all mainline.....

BUT...did you all forget Hawaii.....the most between 2 airports is probably OGG - HNL.

Between 2 airports after OGG-HNL its:

SAN - LAX

LGA - BOS

This topic springs up every now and then, but you a forgetting two very important city pairs.

MAD-BCN - Iberia alone has a flight every 15 min on peak ours in the Puente Aereo (shuttle), plus regular pre assigned services, and services offered by Air Europa, Spanair and Vuelig

Rio - Sao Paulo - There are shuttle style services between CGH and SDU operated by three competing carriers (Varig, TAM and Gol), plus many GRU-GIG flights which are, usually, legs of longer domestic and int'l flights.

Top 3 for PHL

1. Over 30 r/t flights a day for PHL-CHI (ORD & MDW combined) via AA, UA, US, & WN.

2. 28 r/t flights a day for PHL-ATL via DL, FL, & US.

3. 21 r/t flights a day (soon to be 22) for PHL-BOS via FL & US.

This comes up about once a month.

If you count all flights to all airports between two metropolitan areas, San Francisco (SFO, SJC, OAK) to Los Angeles (LAX, SNA, LGB, ONT, BUR) wins hands down.

New York (JFK, LGA, EWR, ISP, HPN) to Miami (MIA, FLL, PBI) is also near the top of the list.

Airport-to-Airport has many candidates. DAL-HOU is high on the list, as is LAX-LAS, LAX-PHX, and DFW-ORD.

Hey if you ask me the Bay Area is one place... a sprawling metropolis, theres just mountains that seperate the bay from the valleys... but i am sure many people use SJC,OAK,SFO and go all over the 'bay area'. I say its suburbia, and if you ask someone in Concord or Fremont or Palo Alto where they live, if they're talking to someone say from outside of America, you would hear 'San Francisco', and i am pretty sure most people consider it the San Francisco Bay Area, which is all one place, just like LA and the inland empire. If what you say is true, we would have to split up New York

19 on US Airways, 4 each on Southwest and airTran, and 3 on American, plus Spirit Airlines flies five times daily from ACY.

I think that is a little misleading... it would be more accurate to say there are 30 daily non-stops between PHL and the FLL area.. US only has 4 dailies to MIA on 734 and AA only has 3 daily 738... however, US does have 9 dailies to FLL ranging from the 733 to the 321/4 dailies to RSW/6 dailies to PBI, while WN has 2 dailies to FLL/1 daily to PBI..

There are a lot more flights to FLL from PHL than there are to MIA.. even PBI gets more flights than MIA..

Also according to my research - Atlanta, Orlando, Chicago, and Ft Lauderdale are the top 4 markets for PHL.. MIA is only a hair better market than RDU, and with only 4 dailies it can't really be that good of a market..

As for CLT, New York and Chicago are their 2 biggest markets with MIA coming at the low end of the top 20 with 5 dailies only. Even AA only offers 3 dailies to CLT, and one of them is a RJ.

Because the United States has the world's largest aviation market, by far.

Don't worry, I'm not trying to be an American cheauvanist. The Asian market is also huge -- I'm sure HKG-NRT, NRT-ICN, and TPE-SIN are on the list as well. EZE-GRU is also probably up there. But you'll probably see American cities listed more by default.

If we add Iberia, Air Europa, Spanair and Vueling, there more than 100 daily flights between Madrid and Barcelona.
