Ten years after a volcano eruption destroyed the airport of the Caribbean island of Montserrat, a new airport will open on July 11th.
The runway will be 600mtrs. long.
The island with the airport code MNI can then be reached by 4 daily Winair (WM) Twin-Otter flights out of Antigua.
Since the island could only be reached by helicopter service and boat, the tourism industry was down and turned Montserrat into one of the poorest islands of the Caribbean.
I wish Montserrat a lot of success with the new airport.
And maybe this also helps their soccer team to leave rank 202 (from 205) .
