New Livery For Singapore With A380?

Tue Apr 26, 2005 2:33 am

is there a chance we might see a new livery for Singapore with the introduction of the A380? or will we just see it in the old livery?

I don't think so. Singapore is leaning heavily on their image which is also partly created by their very distinct livery.

Cheers!

Don't think so either, seeing that the first tail has already been fully painted in the old livery. This was shown being loaded on a Beluga recently. Pity. . . it would have been a great opportunity to rectify the pastiche livery introduced in the late 80s

That tail is kind of curvy, like the current version CG 787, what gives?

SQ's A380 will look exactly as it does in that link. If you do a search you will find pics of the already painted tail as mentioned above.

which doesn't prevent the possibility that they change a few details on the fuselage....

I agree with Dazeflight. The fact that the tail is still the same, doesn't mean the rest of the aircraft is the same. I also think it's time for SQ to update their current livery, even though it still is a very nice livery. I slight change would be nice.

SQ could very well repaint their aircraft back in Singapore before the first revenue flight. Just a thought.

That's true, but would that really qualify as a brand new livery?

I doubt they would throw money down the drain by painting it in their current livery if they were going to repaint before it even entered service...

We all agree that their image is very important in their marketing strategy.

We also agree that the tail is the most signification part of the livery and we all remember that it was left intact when special schemes like the Tropical Jet (I flew on it) or the Jubilee were in use. I wonder if they had Star Alliance colors with their tail and/or with the Star Alliance tail.

A change in the fuselage could be expected. Let's think some waviness may be introduced; along with new titles maybe.

The future will tell.

If you compare the pic of the SIA 380 to the current livery, it looks as if the "SINGAPORE AIRLINE" has been drastically enlarged. In the current livery it is smaller and end some where mid fuselage. In the painted pic is is all across the fuselage.

The reason for SQ to enlarge probably has to do with the fact that the A380 is a much larger aircraft. It doesn't necessarily have to do with changing the livery by doing that. The A380 is just a much bigger aircraft which explains the larger titles on the fuselage. If SQ will indeed change their livery, I also think they will leave the tail design the way it is and change something on the rest of the aircraft.

The was a post with a photo of the first SQ A380 tail going into a beluga, and the tail was in the old colors but that doesn't say anything about the body livery.

If anyone, SQ certainly has enough money to repaint one airplane in a special livery for marketing purposes. They've done it a few times before. Besides, they could have the airplane delivered without any livery and do the paint work in Singapore. All they would have to repaint is the tail.

A388 - That is obvious, but it is also proportionaly much larger to the rest of the a/c.
