This is what I heard: AA
is in the process of finalizing the design and implimentation schedule for the new 763 J seat. The seat is going to be wider and offer more recline than the current 763 J seat. I am not sure if AA
is going to have to shrink the 763 J cabin, though. The first 763 will be modified with the new seat sometime in the January-March 2006 range, and full-scale modification work on the entire 763 fleet will begin in fall 2006. AA
wants the six month period in 2006 to test the seat, let crews get familiarized with it, and see how customers like it. From what I have heard, AA
frequently flyers who have been brought in to try out the new seat were extremely impressed with it.
