My Lucky Day Aboard The 777LR! Pics

Sat Apr 30, 2005 12:39 am

So about a week ago the 777LR was down here at KCOS doing high altitude testing, I saw it take off and ran home to get my camera, praying that it would still be there when i got back. The only bad thing, CLOUDS and DARK clouds. So I went down and sure enough it was sitting there. So I ran and started to go up to the fence, not originally going to because I wanted some pics, but figured, why not. So I was standing there, and decided to start talking to the guy next to me. Then someone comes down the stairs of the aircraft and begins talking to us, then he told me he would be right back because he was going to give me his card since his son was going to go to UND, he so happened to be the captain. On the way back he stopped and talk to the local jet center guys, they turn around and tell us, go to the gate we will meet you there and pick you up. I couldnt believe it! Sure enough we even got a tour of this great experimental aircraft! I tried my best to save the pics due to weather so here are some pics!

So thats it guys. Hope you enjoyed the pics.

Looks like the webpage scrunched the photos a bit. They are not jaggidy like that. But at least yall get the idea!

Thanks a lot, Burnsie, looks like a winner, doesn't it? I'm a great believer in the old saying - "If it looks right, it usually flies right."

The captain wasn't a guy named John Cashman by any chance, was he?

Very nice! I used to work near COS way back when they'd bring the 767/757 and 747-200 (or 300?) in for testing..I'm jealous!

Burnsie,
My question to you is...when is NWA going to announce their 787 order?

Imagine seeing the prototype up close and personal and even talking to the captain!

The closest I can come is through the glass windows in airports or by the tarmac...LOL....

Wish you more luck with new planes!

You're very lucky indeed. You know, I see this thread and obviously feel jealous, but then I realize that I just take it for granted living directly in the flight line for Boeing Field and have actually seen this bird go over my house a couple different times. And 3 days ago the Kenya Airways' newest 777 with the new paint scheme flew over. And I can't forget the newest Emirate's 777 that has their logo painted underneath just flew over the other week as well. These are just the ones I'm able to be home for. I'm very lucky to get to see this stuff all the time. Since I already started, the coolest flyover was the 2 times Air Force One has flown over with the president on board. It's just INSANE to think when it's going over that the leader of the free world is LITERALLY no more than 1000 feet above my house.  Wow! Everyone in my neighborhood gets a kick out of that when it happens. But damn, I never get to actually touch these birds.

And yes, I was trying to brag in this post in an attempt to make you as jealous in return as you have made me now, but its probably not working for S**t.  Wink

Have a good one all!

Wow, Burnsie, you are one lucky guy! That plane is so gorgeous!

The coolest plane I've ever gotten to see up close by being invited was a Cessna Citation III. I was on a business trip down at Sint Maarten (oh, darn!) working at the met station, when the pilots came in for their weather briefing and to pre-flight the airplane. I explained I was a student pilot (at the time) and they invited me to come see the airplane (I did get some pictures).

It was just neat being able to walk out of the building and onto the ramp. I definitely had some plane envy that week.

Burnsie,
Here I was, a week after the 772LR was rolled, on the Boeing tour seeing the aircraft lined up beside a 773 and a couple of 773ERs thinking I had it good.  Cool

And you had to go and trump that.  Angry

If you look over in the direction of Seattle and see a green hue in the sky, that's probably me.

Cheers

Nice! In a way, that captain created a breach of security...but then again...it wasn't exactly a commercial flight. Anywho. Nice pics. Do you have more?  bigthumbsup

I was thinking this as well. My dad worked for Northwest here in SEA and never got to board one single new Boeing that came into SEA-TAC for test flights, and this whack job, stranger gets aboard.  Wink LOL, just kidding Burnsie!

I had a question, I noticed the PTV's in the seats, and got to thinking. What airline is this particular bird going to after certification tests are done for the program? Will later production models actually join fleets before this one, or will this one do the testing for Boeing and be the first one in service as well.

As I stated on another thread today this aircraft will go toPakistan International Airlines. The current N60659 becomes AP-BGY.

Burnsie, Congrats on getting on board. I get that feeling every time I step on a new plane rolling down the line. That's so cool they asked you to do that.
I can't take pics on board and post them here. Boeing will sue me, or fire me or whatever they choose. I can show you a few from off Boeing property I took if you care to see the outside. Click on either gear shot and it will take you to about 15 other shots of the 200LR.
