2 Hubs SQ In Europe: Your Thoughts

Because KLM is keeping SQ out of AMS, SQ cargo has chosen for a 2 hub system in Europe. (AMS and BRU) What do you think? Is that a strategy that they will keep for many years or will they choose for 1 hub eventually? What are the benefits and why would they concentrate the hub to only one hub? At this moment they got 15 freighters at AMS per week, and 14 at BRU. What are your thoughts?

Eventually they will move their European cargo hub to AMS. They are waiting for more slots.

I guess that KLM will keep the door shut on AMS. What can SQ do to get these slots? Guess that BRU will try to get all the AMS slots, BRU has more expand-terrain? Or am I wrong?

they will move to AMS in future. AMS is much better than BRU for cargo, AMS has a lot of local cargo movment (perishables) for example.

Any idea why the left MUC some time ago? Was it because LCAG?

After they started the flights to MUC they were very happy with the flights. They talked also a big increasment of the flights. MUC has a very good geographical location in central europe! Sadly they left the airport.

Why would SQ invest in BRU, considering the disdain showed to DHL Cargo?

They could move to Liége -it's closer to Germany ,has no slot-restrictions and are very open to newcommers...

what about Hahn? Is that still regarded as a reasonable cargo hub> I remember MAS doing something there some years back. is that still happening?

would be not a bad solution as the cargo ops is totally indipendent.

Problem could be the "name" it´s easier to sold the aiport Amsterdam than Liege, as Liege is well known as a low-cost cargo airport in europe.

I do not think HHN has the big potential without a longer runway. MAS for example comes back with the cargo ops to FRA. HHN seems to lose SU Cargo a big client of the airport.

On the other way they received in the last month some new cargo flights.
For example NZ HHN-ORD day 7, BA HHN-PIK-ORD day 6 and BA HHN-PIK-ATL day 7.
