You beat me to it.  Smile

"From January through March, the airport recorded the busiest three months in its history, serving more than 2 million passengers, new airport data show. The total eclipsed last year's record first quarter by 15 percent and is more than double the 7 percent growth rate nationally, according to airport and other figures."

15% over last year's record quarter is incredible. With TZ pulling out I doubt they will continue to see that kind of growth. But with FL moving in and NW getting 3 additional gates it is entirely possible. The local demand is still there with or without TZ and I would guess that NW is connecting about as many passengers in IND as TZ was. By early 2008 the airport will be quite a mess. A growth rate of 5% will put them at nearly 9 million by the start of 2008. By 2010 the number would be close to 10 million. The new facility is definately needed.

Construction on the new stadium starts August 1 to be completed in 2008 as well plus that will qualify Indianapolis for a Superbowl which would put an even bigger demand on the facilities of the event were to be hosted plus the doubling in size of the convention center.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what this is going to do to our taxes. Sigh.

Oh and Indiana also starts daylight saving time next spring. weeeee. lol

Q. How much will this cost and who will pay for it?

A. The entire project has a budget of just under $1 billion. Airport revenues will pay most of the cost from the airlines, retailers, parking and the like. The federal government will contribute some funds for aviation purposes, such as the new control tower. The Indianapolis Airport Authority gets no state or local tax dollars for this project.
if assumptions could fly, airliners.net would be the world's busiest airport

We are safe when it comes to the airport then  Smile. The same cannot be said for the stadium. But I don't mind paying 1% extra on tax when I go out to eat. I enjoy watching the games. Property owners here are getting ready to get hit with another tax increase. But thats a whole different issue unrelated to this.
