Smoking Still Allowed On Some European Airlines?

Sun May 01, 2005 9:34 pm

I was just browsing through the photo index and spotted this pic;
Take a look at the lady on the bottom right. What's also suprising is the fact that this picture was taken so recently. I thought smoking would have been banned outright on europe flights by now?

I believe some airlines still allow it, although I personally don't think it should be allowed (then again I am a non-smoker). I don't particularly want to be sat near somebody smoking throughout a flight of any length, especially where I can't necessarily move away or open windows around me!

This has been posted 100's of time, so do the search. Condor was smoking last time I flew it.

This is from Condor's website:

Seit dem 01. November 2003 sind alle Flüge von Condor und SunExpress Nichtraucherflüge!

That means, from November 1st, 2003, all Condor and SunExpress flights are non-smoking.

No, AF no longer has their little curtained off areas either.

Albanian Airlines allows smoking last time I flew it....or maybe that was the engine. It actually helped make the air more tolerable.

Back in July, 2004, it was still possible to smoke on Hapag-Lloyd's flights. I helped a friend check in at STR to ALC and he was asked by the agent if he wanted a smoking or a non-smoking seat.
Next flights: MEX-LAX AM 738, LAX-PVG DL 77L, SHA-PEK CA 789, PEK-PVG CA A332, PVG-ORD MU 77W, ORD-MEX AM 738

According to Iberworld's website, all smoking on flights within Spain has been prohibited since 1999. On other flights, they say they will reserve seats for those who want to smoke, which insinuates that they don't have smoking seats unless you ask.

According to the Hapag-Lloyd website (I refuse to say Hapagfly):

As of the winter flight schedule, starting 01 November 2004, all Hapag-Lloyd flights will be operated as non-smoking flights.

So, rather recent for Hapag-Lloyd Flug
