AN 124's In YYZ?

Mon May 02, 2005 1:32 pm

hi, just wondering why there have been two An 124's parked in the infield area at Pearson (YYZ), one for over a week now and one a few days ago? I am assuming that some company is leasing them, but what's the keepback? Thanks for your help......

I've been wondering about that too. They both belong to Polet Cargo. One is parked on the deicing ramp and the other at BAX Global cargo terminal.

The one sitting at BAX the Cargo terminal offloaded a bunch of wings... they looked like CRJ wings IMO.

Both of the Polet An124s brought aircraft wings and fuselage pieces from Japan for Bombardiers plant in Downsview. The first , RA82075 arrived on April 20 and the second one, RA82068 arrived on April 29. It is not uncommon for the AN-124s to be making this run from Japan to YYZ, it is unusual for them to remain parked for so long. Normally they arrive mid morning, stay overnight for crew rest and depart the next day. It seems the market for the heavy lift aircraft is a little soft at the moment and they are waiting for their next assignment.
