UAL SFO-Nagoya Load Factors?

Wed May 04, 2005 11:58 am

Well the service has been in operation for a little over a month now. Anyone know how UA is doing with the flight and how full the flights are, with people and cargo.

Has the NGO-TPE leg started yet?

The NGO route started off very slow. The firt week of operations load factor was about 50% (not sure about cargo) Today, there was 225 inbound to SFO and out bound was 205. SFO -HKG is always running full. Not sure about the HKG-SNG

When it comes to flying to japan, most people in the States go to Tokyo or Osaka as those are the Big cities. Nagoya is small but the through traffic is what makes it go. It has lower landing fees and better access to domestic routes than Tokyo or KIX.

The loads to SFO are higher due to the huge promotion by travel companies here for flights to the West coast. There are more pamphlets prmoting travel to places like PHX, LAS and DEN all through SFO. These appeal to the Japanese tourist.

When it comes to the TPE route, I feel it will do well. It will give competition to JO, CX and CI. I believe the flight is also codeshare with NH. NGO has become the favored airport for those flying from domestic airports like Sendai and Niigata. The connection is easier than NRT or KIX and cheaper.

I wonder how the AA route is doing. I have had two groups come through on AA and both say the flight seemed empty. Maybe AA needs to get a 5th freedom route out. Right now the flight lines up so people can fly on to TPE or HKG on CX and connects to the JL network nicely. AA is doing well to the states because of their connection to NYC. Also Chicago is a desintation within itself.

NW is still doing better through NGO. it is always packed. But sadly the numbers coming from Japan are low. Most is through traffic from MNL.
Yes...I am not a KIX fan. Let's Japanese Aviation!

Another bit of info... UA has a great contract with Toyota out of NGO to connect them via SFO to AUS.

The debate continues... Starwood or Hyatt... which is better

FA4UA....Is this one of the reasons SFO-AUS went to a A319 vs. the CR7?

I flew UA831 SFO - NGO on April 15th and NGO - SFO on April 24th. The outbound flight seemed light to me (the one FA I spoke to also said "it was very light today").

I was sitting in Economy+ and I took this shot:

There were probably only about 2 dozen in there.

The Economy section was more crowded, probably 70-80%. I don't know about up front.

The return flight looked about the same to me.

Did both of your flights have the crew rest bunks? Are they curtained off for the whole flight?

I am going to fly NGO-SFO on the 7th May. I will let you guys know. The booking figure is about 50%.
Let's just blame it on yields.

Is this flight operated on the 744 or 772? I'm having a bit of a brain fart over here...

So I've heard... Unfortunately Aaron got written up for the last time we were down there.

Yes the crew rest area was curtained off for the duration of the whole flight (well by that I mean from the time we reached cruising altitude until we started descent).
