SQ287 SIN-AKL 9Jul05

Wed May 04, 2005 5:12 pm

Hi everyone:

Does anybody here know why did SQ put on one extra flight SIn-AKL on 9 Jul05, operating as SQ287?.. The flight is operated by a B773 and is sched to depart SIN @ 6:10pm, arriving AKL next day @ 7:45 am. The return flight, SQ288, leaves AKL @ 9:05am, and arrives SIN @ 3:55pm.

I though this could be an additional SIN-AKL schedule flight that SQ put up, for it seems the flight operateonly this once!.. Anobody knows why??

Regards

Hmm interesting i'll try and find out about that one.

All Blacks Lions test in AKL on July 9th, I wonder if that has anything to do with it?

Thats the old schedule for SQ281/282 which now operates at night soi'm guessing for the rugby. Anyway will be good to have a 773, happens from time to time! Oneday in March SQ had 3 scheduled flights to AKL when they changed SQ281/282 to a night flight, there was an SQ283/284 in the morning aswell.

It is entirely capacity in addition to normal services for the Lions tour supporters. And a good opportunity to go on a SQ773 from AKL.

Hi guys:

Thanks for the input. Never thought about the Lions vs AB test - that could be it..! However, it's kind of interesting that SQ put up an additional flight, if that the reason SQ did it.. Wonder will NZ put on any additonal flights AKL-LHR??

Cheers!

Considering NZ will now only have 7x B744s operating and one B744 in the workshop getting its cabin upgrade everyday, I honestly don't think it will be possible

Well NZ and QF are putting on extra flights and some charter airlines are putting on flights in New Zealand, so yes it involves airlines

Every so many years, a rugby team called the British and Irish Lions tours South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. This year they happen to face New Zealand. It's the next biggest rugby thing to the World Cup, so that pretty much means Britons will be flocking down here to watch the games. SQ are putting extra capacity on to account for this extra number of travellers.

Cheers
