Scheduling Of 2nd Daily DXB-PER Service

Thu May 05, 2005 4:03 pm

OK, let's look into the crystal ball.
In October, EK will operate a 2nd daily PER service.
The current timing of services is:

DXB 0235
PER 1725
PER 2230
DXB 0540+1

Any guesses as to the timing of the new services. Will the have a similar ex PER, or will they offer a morning departure to conenct with mid afternoon flights fro DXB to London, FRA, MUC etc.

My 2 guesses:

DXB 0935
PER 0025
PER 0105
DXB 0905

OR

DXB 0935
PER 0025
PER 0730
DXB 1440

I'm leaning towards option 2.

Maybe the flight will depart at 20-22:00 from DXB?

Rob, I think 20.00-22.00 might be a little too early, as most flights from europe get in around midnight, hence the current 02.35 departure.

I know there may be a few flights that get in around that time from the UK, but it seems that EK's main west->east connections happen between 00.00 and 02.30, and then again 06.00-09.00.

the 06.00-09.00 bank is used for connections to EK's MEL A345 service, and both services to SYD.

I though they already announced the schedule for the second flight?

Can't work out the time difference for DXB.

Isn't it
Arrive PER 0020
Depart PER 0620

Amazing the way EK work, with flights getting into DXB at such times of the night that wouldn't really interest me in the slightest.

This second service from PER will put pressure on QF to consider other options from PER

PER - LHR Non stop

And I am sure there would be other destinations.

Bring on the second EK service as it will be good for PER to have different flight options apart from SIN, KUL, BGK and HGK to Europe
Ahh the joy of living under a flightpath

Theses are the timmings of the new service

EK 424 F4 A4 J7 C7 Y9 W9 M9 B9 K9 H9 DXBPER 0940 0020‡1 345
EK 425 F4 A4 J7 C7 Y9 W9 M9 B9 K9 PERDXB 0620 1330 345

The second flight is timed to connect well with cities that have double daily services. i.e BHX,MAN,FRA,MUC etc etc. this allows an evening departure from Europe and a same day arrival on the return

Example

EK 38 J7 C7 Y9 W9 M9 B9 K9 H9 Q9 L9 BHXDXB 2100 0800‡1 332 0
T9 V9
EK 424 F4 A4 J7 C7 Y9 W9 M9 B9 K9 H9 DXBPER 0940 0020‡1 345

EK 425 F4 A4 J7 C7 Y9 W9 M9 B9 K9 PERDXB 0620 1330 345 0
H9 Q9 L9 T9 V9
EK 37 J7 C7 Y9 W9 M9 B9 K9 H9 Q9 DXBBHX 1545 1935 332

IMO this is unlikely, and even if it did happen, at least 24 months away. By then, the horse would have bolted. QF always seems to be reactive!

geez, i was close with my guess:
DXB 0935
PER 0025
PER 0730
DXB 1440

Also, why are they using the A345 on the sector? seems odd. Pretty much all the aircraft in the fleet [with the exception of the A332 perhaps] have got the range to operate DXB-PER. seems a bit of a waste...

I think I read somewhere it was to attract higher yielding passengers by being able to offer the First class suite along with other in flight inchancements. They really are trying to steal the market from QF on the PER-UK sector. They also have the aircraft and they need to use it somewhere so why not PER

I too thought the second service would become a 777er with an enroute stop i.e SIN or BKK and then we may have seen a second daily DXB-BNE direct service with the A345.
