Excel Long Haul Flights From NCL Start Today

Thu May 05, 2005 5:38 pm

For the first time ever, Excel Airways will begin flying long haul from NCL with todays flight to Orlando Sanford using 767-300ER. They will also fly to Puerto Plata from tomorrow as well.

Good to see Excel expanding from outside of MAN and LGW

Yes, they also have 2 Boeing 737-400s based at Newcastle this summer. Hopefully XLA will introduce Cancun next year

I was at NCL this morning when it took off, was about 20 minutes late pushing back. What a sight it was taking off, absolutely brilliant. About 15 minutes later, TS first flight of the summer took off to YYZ using almost all of the runway with an A310, this took off around 10 minutes late. For the first time, there wasn't a single EZY in sight, although one did take off around 5 minutes from me approaching the airport. This is the XLA aircraft that was used:

They used a -200 for the first flight? I know a -200 was in the other day crew training but would have thought it would be a -300 all the time

Aah, thanks for that info.
Monarch start NCL-SFB again tomorrow or Saturday with their 330s also.
SCY fly NCL-SFB using 757s during July/August for 4 or 5 weeks
