Journey To PER From KIX On June 30th Help Needed

Fri May 06, 2005 12:47 pm

I am trying to find a good itinerary for a trip to Perth, Australia from Kansai International Airport. I know that there are no direct flights and you would have to make a stop in NRT in order to fly to Perth. However, its always such a hastle of going north to HND from KIX and taking the bus to NRT and hopping on the QF. Yes, the A330 that QF scheduled seems attracting but I want to make an international stop and be able to earn miles on my JMB (Jal Mileage Bank) account with a decent connection somewhere in Asia or maybe take JL777 to BNE and transit there.

1. Can anyone tell me the least travel time to get to PER from KIX and being able to accumulate Jal miles?
2. Tell me about good airports in the Asia region that are good to transit in
3. How much time I would need to transfer realistically.

I tried searching on Amadeus, Travelocity, etc. But they don't give me accurate return schedules on July 8th. I am leaving on the 30th of June.

2 suggestions:

Via SIN, either SQ all the way or JL/QF interchange in SIN

Via HKG, either CX or maybe a CX/QF codeshare or interchange in HKG (ie you MAY get a QF fare that uses CX HKG-KIX that is cheaper than CX KIX-HKG-PER)

Not necessarily the best of connections, and also no JAL miles, but a very cost effective solution with the tempting option of making a stopover in Bali would be offered by Garuda Indonesia KIX-DPS-PER. Garuda has 5 weekly flights between KIX and DPS with A333s and 10 weekly B734 flights between DPS and PER. KIX-DPS-PER has very good connection times, but I would advize you to make a stop on the way back, as you would be looking at a 12-hour lay over. A two or three day stay in Bali could do no harm, could it?

Aagain, not quite fitting all your criteria with JAL miles etc, but here are some options. HB, i couldn't find the GA services on 30 June, so perhaps it doesn't op that day.

12:00p KIX 11:50p PER 1 SQ 985/SQ 215 Via SIN 772/772 12:50
1hr 25 min transit in SIN

11:45a KIX 12:10a+1 PER 1 TG 623/TG 987 Via BKK 773/333 13:25
50 minute transit in BKK. also a good stopover option

12:00p KIX 5:45a+1 PER 1 MH 53/MH 127 Via KUL 772/330 18:45
4 hr 20 min transit

and here's the BNE option with JAL
9:30p KIX 11:40a+1 PER 2 *JL 777/QF 589 Via BNE 747/763 15:10
1 hr 20 min transit

Going back on 8 July
4:30p PER 1 7:15a+1 KIX MH 124/MH 52 Via KUL 772/772 13:45
1 hr 35 min transit

4:00p PER 1 8:35a+1 KIX SQ 226/SQ 986 Via SIN 772/772 15:35
3 hr 50 min transit

1:30a PER 1 4:35p KIX TG 988/*TG 728 Via BKK 333/747 14:05
1 hr 40 min transit. with JAL codeshare, so maybe earn JAL miles!

12:15a PER 2 8:05p KIX QF 518/*JL 778 Via SYD 332/747 18:50
5 hr 15 min transit, and the PER-SYD red eye! forget this option!

Thank you so much for all your replies!!!

Quoting HB-IWC (Reply 2):

Yes I would love to, except that my father has a medical conference on the 10th of July. It does sound attractive though.

Quoting HB-IWC (Reply 2):
10 weekly B734 flights between DPS and PER

Wow~ that's an extremely long flight on a B734 isn't it? Although the narrow body configuration might be more relaxing to go to the bathroom.

Thanks so much for your list. But isn't a 50 minute stop-over in BKK kind of risky? Or is it that smooth to make connections? I was thinking of the 1h 20 min connection with JL but is that realistic? I remember that there was quite a distance from the int'l terminal to the domestic terminal in BNE when I deboarded my plane there last time. Would you recommend a certain number of hours for connection times? 2-3 hours?

Again, thanks everyone

Hi there,

I have an interesting option that doesn't give you the JAL miles but would be very Scenic.

Through Cairns, north of Brisbane
Flying Australian Airlines/Qantas

Details
AO7914 Dep KIX: 2030, ARR: CNS: 0455+1
1 day stopover in Cairns- Very nice  Smile

DEP CNS:2225 1 Jul, ARR: PER 0125 2 Jul

That is an option or you could also go through Cairns and Ayers Rock,
flying Australian to Cairns as well, with a 4hr 35m stopover in Cairns ( great morning views)

DEP CNS: 0930, ARR: Ayers Rock:1150
Stopover for 2hr 10m
DEP: Ayers Rock:1400, ARR: PER:1535

Aircraft are interesting also
they are:
KIX/CNS/PER: 763,738
KIX/CNS/AYQ/PER: 763/734/143

Good option if you like flying and a bit of Aussie scenery Big grin
Could be expensive..... I haven't priced it, but you could get the cheap fares within Australia

As for return flights, just check in the QF search engines, but not in one go, just different sectors...
