Delta's Terminals At BOS And JFK

Fri Apr 14, 2000 2:11 am

Has anyone heard any recent news about the new Terminal A at Boston or about Delta's plans to build a new facility at JFK? Both cities would greatly benefit from the new facilties, as Delta is operating out of such horrid terminals at present.

The only big renovation I heard about at BOS was American Airlines renovation at Terminal B.

The thing is that there is so much construction going on at Logan International right now that it is very possible Delta is up to something, although the AA renovation the only certain thing I know about.

Check out Logan Airport's webpage, that would probably answer your questions about what's going on.

Delta is rebuilding the old Eastern terminal and consolidating all of their operations there. That was announced several months ago, well before AA made their plans public. Delta also said they will increase transcon flights and soon expand internationally out of BOS. It sounds like Delta will have the finest terminal at BOS when completed.

Recently Delta has ben flying the 777 into BOS to get the crews and ground people ready to handle the big international aircraft. MCO-JFK service has been upgraded from a 767-300ER to a 777-200ER and Delta is also due to begin renovating a terminal for them and the new international flights out of JFK. Recently JFK-CDG has been added using a 777-200ER as well.

IF you haven't heard, Delta is going to amost re-build Terminal A, add a satellite concourse, and get Terminal A Customs and Immigration, which almost certainly ensures Delta had the plannings of international flights. This has apparently come as a threat to some, as (although planned long before) US Airways is building 4 more gates to their side of Terminal B, and American announced plans to more than double the square footage of their side of Terminal B. The AA side might also have it's own customs. Logan will be a very nice airport in a few years, just so long as the constuction ends, which I, personally, doubt it will.

Also, Delta is planning to space the gates far enough apart to carry the 777.

Thanks for the info! See what happens when you're not paying 100% attention to what's going on? (-:

There is so much going on at BOS right now that I can't keep up! I did hear, maybe from this forum that Delta was applying for a nonstop from BOS to London Gatwick (LGW)?

Can anyone confirm or give further info as to Delta's transatlantic intentions here in Boston? Thanks!
