I was at LAX for the first time in two years and was pretty disappointed at the end-product of UA's 270-million refurbishment. Terminal 8 (Shuttle) was *completely* redone and looked *great*, but there was hardly any improvement in Terminal 7 (majority of UA mainline flts here).
The new signage is modern and clean, but there was one sore spot in T7: when you first enter, there are about 6 pillars/columns which are remnants of the old brown stone decor. They managed to change the rest of the columns in the terminal to silvery metal, but what happened here?
Overall, T7 is slightly better than the *current* partially renovated American terminal (T4 -- They are halfway or so to refurbishing theirs) but nothing beats the marvelous marbled-out T5 of Delta. It's a high class Ritz-like terminal still -- even though it was refurbished in the 80s! Terminal 2 is quite nice too. One more point: I think UA should clean up T6 (intl flts and flagship svc) a bit too.
