Dotted Windows In New DTW Terminal...

Mon May 09, 2005 3:04 am

What is the deal with the 'spotted' windows in the new DTW terminal? I made a connection through DTW last week and was extremely disappointed I was unable to add photos to my personal website. I was able to catch a quick shot of an NW A330 through the window near one of the gates where our RJ parked, but in the main terminal, the windows had this glass with dots, of which you could not see until you were close up.

I will be connecting through there two more times this year and am curious if it is just this new terminal - or all terminals where my NW flight might connect.

The dots are there to reduce glare, IIRC.

If you go to the "bridge" that connects the Westin to the entrance dive, those windows do not have the "dots" and you can get some nice shots of the southern inside section of the "a" concourse.

The dots are to help block sunlight as it comes in later afternoon in the west and some mid-early morning in the east. Annoying but with such big windows the glare would be very bad.
