Airline Booking Systems

Wed May 11, 2005 4:49 pm

As I understand, most airlines use either Amadeus or Galileo (and some use Sabre?) for reservations.

Amadeus have a great facility on their website ( http://www.amadeus.net ) called Checkmytrip under which you can enter your 6 digit booking locator and get seating plans, check the status and times, a/c type etc etc. Does anyone know if Galileo or Sabre provide the same thing? Can't find it myself - any links anyone?

I'd be grateful for any info - thanks folks  Smile

Try http://www.virtuallythere.com (Sabre) and http://www.viewtrip.com (Galileo).

Slight correction. No airlines use Galileo for their reservations. Galileo is a travel agent system only. UA use Apollo, which is owned/operated by Galileo, but it is a (sort of) seperate system (it runs on the same machine, I think, but has seperate software and databases).

I think about 40 or 50 airlines use Sabre for Res and Inventory, and 150 use Amadeus (for Res, but hosted across 7 different inventory systems, Altea Plan (1A), Alpha3 (AF), Lufthansa Systems (LH), SITA Gabriel, Iris (RG), Resiber (IB), ResAid (SK) and Royal (TG)

Guys, thanks for the clarification/info.

I've tried my SAA reservation number in all of these, but can't seem to get a match - anyone know where I can look it up at the seating plan info on SAA website is so small, you can't read the seat numbers!?

SAA currently use Atraxis (Swissair's old system, now owned and operated by EDS). They will be migrating to Amadeus towards the end of the year.
