So what exactly is a CRJ-705? Is it a CRJ-700 with weird winglets and 2 overwing exits, or what? Hybrid of a CRJ-700 and CRJ-900?

a CRJ-705, is essentially a -900 that seats 75 instead of 90-100 passengers.

The CRJ-705 has some unique properties that distinguish it from a 900. Not major, mind you, but some winglet differences that are going to be added to the 900. This is almost certainly the first 705 off the line (Fin 701 as seen on the fuselage), which would make it the first 705 going into commercial service anywhere. AC will be flying it between Calgary and Houston.

Looks like a toothpick, or a pencil.

Any way, what is the range of the CRJ-705 compared to other CRJ's such as the 700 or 900? How does the range compare to the new EMBs as well?

Given that it's the closest thing, appearance wise, AC will ever come to operating DC-9s again, it's quite fitting to see they chose 700 series fin numbers.

Why has this one 2 emergency exits when it's for 75 pax only. The normal CRJ-700 has only one and can seat up to 78 pax.

Jazz's new CRJ-705s are esentially CRJ-900s. They have new winglets and a couple other system upgrades that make the aircraft more efficient I believe. The 705s are just 900s in 78 passenger seating.

Presumably Bombardier was covering themselves to allow CRJ705 operators to fill the plane up with standard CRJ900 seating if they wanted, thereby (amongst other things) I'd guess protecting residual values of the aircraft.

Anyone know if they are planning to run some proving flights from YYC-IAH prior to the start of service, I believe June 1st?

Thanks for clearing up, this one sounds logical.
