Ghana Airways DC9 Sold

Fri May 13, 2005 8:31 am

Antrak air (Of Ghana) bought the 2 dc9 off Ghana Airways and are planning to launch schedule within western africa soon.
they currently fly regional and to some intenational destinations such as Freetown and lagos i believe.
More competition for GIA as they are ''suppose to take off in July''

Good to see it flying again! Even if not in NW colors... devil

Anyone know the status of Ethiopian's ADD-ACC-USA planned service? And are plans still in development for the ACC to become a West African hub?

Latest news (out today) about ET and GIA :

If the deal was set in stone ET would have started planning the ADD-ACC-JFK route for the summer months. It would be easier for them since they are talking delivery of a brand new 763 from Boeing in June. New registrations will be ET-ALP

What's the story with the tail? I have seen other airlines with exactly the same tail.

Quick trivia... what do you get if you turn the Ethiopian flag upside-down and slap a black star in the middle?

While I still have not heard about the start dates for ADD-ACC-USA flights, JFK is what's seen out of ACC, as opposed to IAD. I also read that news item earlier this morning, and it appears that they are in advanced stages. Newspapers are having the time of their lives though, and I would not want to be anywhere close to their Transport minister nor ACVitale/Mendis as it looks like journalists are about to devour them. At any rate, it looks like this latest piece negates everything that we have been reading, including references to condoms.

Now that's of concern! But I also wonder what would cause this to happen all of a sudden? Did operations at the airport suddenly change, in the way pax are hearded to/from aircraft? Are parts of the airport closed for whatever reason?

I should also add that when Ethiopian renewed their permit to fly to the US, persmission was requested and granted for IAD, EWR and JFK. This even after they had dropped EWR.

Yay! It is due to help out with the summer schedule... IIRC June/July is when the party starts...

I guess now all types of aircraft operated by ET have been sprayed with the new colours... oh, except the cargo Lockheeds and the 75F.

I hope they do something with the inside as well. ET-AIF was very old when it was retired. WIth plenty of mechanical problems before it was put to rest. Aircraft is 21 years old.

I guess this means no SA ACC-IAD 5th freedom either.
