The Last Flight Of Eastern Airlines

Sun May 15, 2005 7:18 am

Hello to all.

This might be a stretch given the years, but I was curious if any of the EAL former employees or enthusiasts in these forums recall what the last revenue flight of Eastern's was, and, if knowledgeable, the final ferry flight (either to the desert, or to another operator). If anyone can shed some light on this topic, it would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

last Eastern revenue flight was an L-1011 arriving into MIA -- pilot decided to circle MIA airport TWICE before landing .. that happened on the evening of January 19, 1991 ...

Most of EA planes parked at MIA & ATL for several days ... Delta bought EA L1011s, USAirways and America West got EA 757s.. TWA & Northwest got EA DC9s, Northwest got some EA 727s

that was a sad day in aviation history. Hopefully we won't see a repeat of that with Delta.

Thanks for the quick response. Wouldn't happen to know the flight number by chance, would you?  Smile

BTW, are you sure it was the evening of the 19th? If it was, I'm puzzled what revenue flight would still be in operation from their network.

Sounds like the pilot really didnt want to land, If I knew that I was flying the last flight of my airline, I wouldnt want to either.
