EAA Ford Trimotor Coming To Port Clinton, OH

Sun May 15, 2005 9:41 pm

Hi Guys,

Just thought I'd let you know that the EAA's Ford Trimotor is coming to Carl Keller Field (KPCW) again this year from June 16-19th, and will be giving rides. Tickets are $40.00 in advance, or $50.00 the day of.

If you're old enough, you may have flown on one of Island Airlines Trimotors like I did when I was a kid. It's an experience I have never forgotten! So, get your tickets!

Here's a link to their site:

Wonderful ride!

I've flown in it as well out of Pioneer Field at EAA. Tremendous airplane. Really all of them are, and the EAA especially does a great job overall.

I caught a ride when it was in FLA a fews short years back. For benefit of the big kids who have never rode piston and ONLY turbine, I strongly suggest this ride.

My Dad took me for a ride on the old island airlines trimotor when I was a kid. Got to sit right up front by the pilot. It was like watching the wizard of Oz work the levers behind the curtain. The guy was in constant motion for the entire 13 minute flight. It's something I've never forgotten. On the way back I was in the cabin and noticed the tire never stopped spinning from takeoff to landing. Thanks for dredging up the memory as my Dad passed away just 2 weeks ago.
Warm winds blowing, heating blue skies, and a road that goes forever, I'm going to Texas!

Hi Gilligan-Sorry to hear about your Dad, I'm sure he will be missed. Your Trimotor story sounds exactly like mine...I too remember the pilot being busier than a one armed piccolo player! I was seated on the right side in the cabin, and I remember the tire spinning the whole way as well! Funny the things we remember.
