Emergency Landing At FXE

Tue May 17, 2005 10:38 pm

It seems like a Bahamas registered Beechcraft aircraft flying from the Bahamas this morning coming in to FXE is unable to land due to landing gear problems. Right now the airplane is circling the airport to burn some fuel and then try to make a belly landing. I'll try to post something soon.
Anyone has more information?

Managed to get gear down, and landed normally.

Crisis averted...after about 1-2 hours of circling and trying to get the gear in place (including manouvers that looked like what would be the effect of heavy turbulence) three green lights came on 8 miles out and the plane landed safely

I saw that on live video this morning.

That was great footage of the pilot doing low passes and jerking the plane up and down, in an effort that suggested trying to jockey the gear down.

So it landed on all three?

Also, the news was saying he was DUMPING fuel. Is that an option on the king Air 200?

I thought the news said they were burning (i.e. using up) fuel, but not sure.

What I noticed though is when the plane landed (yes, on all 3), channel 10 didn't even wait for the aircraft to come to a stop and everybody to get out. [cynicism]"Damn, no shocking news to report, let's switch to a different story..."[/cynicism]

Yep...channel 4 at least waited for the plane to taxi off the runway! Hey, 7 and 6 had nothing until noon!

One interesting thing...
FAA representative said: Plane was coming in from Bahamas
CBS4 said 2 things...the above and that the plane was heading to the Bahamas.

BTW..Aircraft is N512KA
