And one day of the week bring in their lone 767.

Since they were barely a month old and in Jan were offering excellent "companion free" bussiness class fares, with Limousin service and free stop over at AUH

Air Seychelles has withdrawn ops to BOM and DXB. Gulf Traveller & Gulf Air are the same. The only difference is that Gulf Traveller is all-economy.

Sorry! I had no idea. Did they start a couple of days ago like it says in your post?

It's great that they started this flight though. Makes Air India's already ridiculous BOM-DEL-BKK-PVG route look even more ridiculous.

Jasepl,

I believe MU started BOM ops in April '05 - also the DEL flight now flies to PVG with a one-stop to PEK.

And I agree, AI's stopover in BKK makes their China flights uncompetitive esp. for Bom based pax.

Do AI Express serve any destinations from Bombay that aren't already on my list?

Every time we are treated to such a display from Air India (BOM-DEL-SIN, BOM-DEL-BKK-PVG, BOM-HYD-RUH etc) it makes me wonder and question just how masochistic out population is.

Jasepl:

I know you put in some work to collect all the paths for that map. It looks great but perhaps just slightly jarring with those apparent polar routes to the USA. Just a friendly comment (not a critique) that the map may look more acceptable if you use multiple waypoints for those paths. E.g.:

bom-lhr-jfk,bom-cdg-ewr,bom-lhr-ord,bom-fra-ord,bom-fra-lax,bom-cdg-jfk,bom-ams-msp,bom-bru-ewr

Cheers!

Atleast AI has started to operate schedule daily flights with one flight number. I remember BOM-DXB would operate every day at a dif time with a dif. flight number. Their aircraft schedulers for sure were masochists.... Smile

Doesn't the inflight experience on China Eastern make an AI A310 on a milkrun feel like SQ in First?

I've heard that MU are quite dreadful. I've flown Air China once, and it was an amusing experience - horrible service, crew who spoke no English on a transpacific flight, and really awful food. No inflight entertainment. The silver lining was that it was my first - and last - flight on a 747SP.

You are quite right WestWing, my map is a bit deceptive!  Wink

This is my 'destinations' map. I have another 'routes' one as well. But that's on my computer at home and I won't be back in Bombay for another couple of weeks yet. I will post that once I'm home!

It might. Still, 6 hours on MU vs18 hours on AI isn't that much of a contest. It all comes down to different shades of masochism.  Wink

4X is Israel.
If it was Tuesday early morning, then it must have been El Al, operating with a 747 instead of the 767. Aircraft's probably due for livery change.

Seen the B762 parked at the International side today afternoon.
Also seen VT-AIK awaiting departure, before a Pax decided not to board & there was a delay searching for his bags which had to be offloaded.Thereafter the Runway was closed for an hour due NOTAM.Gave me sometime to Talk to Jerry & Inspect the MLGs closely.
