Sounds good. Hope it goes well for Spirit. Obviously there is a demand if their are 2 other carriers on the route (maybe not, just saying).

They have tagged it to/from DTW.
I think that is a lot of capacity to push on a market even if it is the smaller 319. Delta sends in 187 seats total out of a mixture of 4 CRJ/ERJ/ER3. UP uses the DH8 and AA uses the AT7. Add a 4th airline and single flight results in a 33% increase of seats.
It's a big building with patients, but that's not important right now.

Interesting move on NK's part. With most northern cities (in NK's network)already being able to connect to NAS 2X daily via FLL, I find this new route a little surprising. NAS already had 1-stop/same plane service to DTW via FLL and it seems the new MCO flight will do the same.

On a related note, the NK MCO-CUN route proposal leads me to believe that NK wishes to build up their overall MCO presence (not that DL is letting them!). I wonder if NK will add any more MCO-northbound cities this fall (maybe PVD sees a new MCO flight as part of this strategy).

MAH; do you think there is enough local MCO traffic for the new NK NAS flight to work? How about CUN?

I have a feeling, more so with Nassau than with Cancun, that they are doing this so that they can sell more connecting traffic via Orlando and save seats out of Lauderdale to the local market. The Lauderdale-Nassau market has excellent yields, even with Spirit on the route, that demands an extremely high price/mile.

With Cancun, they just see a void for Orlando-Cancun service they would like to fill.

Thanks for the input Mah, I knew you would have a quality take on the subject...

NK changed their DOT application for TPA-CUN to daily (from Sat. only) and to start these new routes on or about 11/10/05.

Great news for both NK and NAS! Now hopefully someone with a lower fare will step in with a direct BWI-NAS service. US wants too much for their DCA-NAS (and DCA is a pain to get to at certain points of the day). *Keeping fingers crossed*

USA 3000 starts twice-weekly (ThSu) non-stop Baltimore-Nassau service in September.

They don't fly to Nassau, they fly to Freeport on Grand Bahamas, from both Atlanta and Baltimore.

I feel it might be over-capacity. Why they didn't start service from ORD or DTW. I agree with DeltaMia. UP doesn't even use its B732 on the MCO route. AA only has maybe 2 or 3 dailies. Seems a bit of an overkill despite connections.
Looks like the fresh wind has gone stale
