Thanks Hmmmm..., I've seem some of those and like them although I'm not sure what people think about the animation "feature".

Guys, tell me you want them and I'll add them. If the majority says no, I'll keep the old ones. Put your thoughs in this thread, I'll decide tomorrow.

Regards,
Johan

I agree with Mark, they'll make things look even better. I say go for them! One question though - the current mood-buttons are added by typing two characters, how will the new ones be added?

Mark,

The moodicons are great!!

I'll be using them in my e-mails as well and fully support their use in the forum. You have been a real inspiration on airliner's.net and totally unselfish in your willingness to pass on your computer abilities!

It would also be nice to have distinctive topic headers

The only problem with these is that it would take a while for the page to load up completely. However, looks cool...

Oops didn't work. Would be cool if we could display topic headers with some distinct logo related to the topic.

Anyway

Yes, I vote for it.

One question - where do you get them and/or how can I get them to use on emails to people?

Ok, as you people requested, here are the new moodicons or "smilies" for the forum. Used wisely, they can be a great help expressing feelings:

:-)Smile/happy/getting dizzy
>:-(Mad
:,-(Crying
:-OWow
;-)wink/being sarcastic
|-Oyawning
:-IYeah, sure (sarcastically)
?:-|Confused
:-DLaugh out loud
>:->Acting devilish
:-/So What?

You can read about how they work in the help section linked to at the top of this page. I've also left the old icons so that you may use them if you wish.

Regards,
Johan

Well, I'd like to thank Johan for adopting the new moodicons. I was quite surprised at the overwhelmingly positive response. You'd almost think those were paid endorsements.   Thank you.

As far as including those moodicons in e-mails, well that depends on whether your email software supports HTML code in the message body, or whether you just have to include it as an attachment. Try it. See what happens. The keyboard commands Johan allocated for the faces are specific to this forum only. Otherwise, use the moodicons as I found them:

The link to those moodicons, as an HTML object, is

(img src="http://www.coolboard.com/images/moodicons/animated/name of moodicon.gif")

Names for the ones I suggested are:
wink.gif
cry.gif
yeahsure.gif
yawn.gif
wow.gif
spin.gif
rolleyes,gif
confused.gif
giggles.gif

N.B. I used round ()brackets to type this link. You must use angle <> brackets to make this link work.
I hope I didn't put anybody to sleep (sleepy.gif)

Have fun.
