DL's Wingletted 727s

Sun Apr 16, 2000 3:35 pm

I was wondering what ever happened to the 2 727s with winglets that Delta operated for a while in the early 1990s? Were they re-converted to standard, or still flying, but with a different airline? Also, why didn't DL add winglets to all their 727s? Thanks

The winglets were removed after the company that manufactured them went bankrupt. Although the test was considered a success, Delta was concerned with the lack of technical assistance down the road. Ships 510 and 511 still fly with DL to this day.
This plane is built to withstand anything... except a bad pilot.
