Would An Earlier 747ADV Launch Date Help?

Fri May 20, 2005 5:03 am

The numerous articles on the proposed 747ADV seem to point at launch dates from 2010 or later. If Boeing was able to have the 747ADV by 2008 or earlier could that significantly help launch the aircraft and preserve the line? How feasible is it to launch this aircraft earlier than expected? Alot of research have been done already.Anyone have any ideas?

I believe it is just a matter of signing up enough customers. Boeing needs Cathy, JAL, SQ, ANA, or NW to step up to the plate and order the aircraft. The key is 10% less DOC less than the A380?

I don't think an earlier launch date would make a huge difference. The venerable 747 has been around for about 35 years now, and its run is probably coming to an end.

I think you are right particulary if what Lehay says is true about the 2 US legacy carriers and CX. Don't know if he is full of it, but if these guy opt for the 380 then it certainly won't help the 747adv's chances.

Paris will hold all the answers for us

If Boeing gets 25-30 orders for the B-747ADV, they will launch it. These could all be passenger airplanes, freighters, or any combination.

Wouldn't it surprize everyone if Boeing announced these orders in Paris this year? I have a feeling that Airbus isn't the only one to announce surprize orders (for the A-350?).

The B-747ADV-F has a huge advantage over the A-380F, which is not more than a bigger package freighter(it should be called the A-380PF). The B-747F does have the swing open nose section that A-380PF cannot offer.

Potential buyers: CX, SQ, QF, MH, TG, BA, LH, AF, KLM, KE, CA, NW, UA, NZ, JL, ANA etc etc.......

Hope they will actually place a large order and the B 747 line can carry on

I still have faith that the B 747 advanced will be launched
