Just in case a.net members are unaware, there is a programme being broadcast today at 16:00 and 22:00 BST on UKTV Documentary called "Suicide in the Air". According to the listings, this covers five air crashes since 1982 where "pilot suicide" had been stated as the cause of the tragedies. The programme contests that the evidence is thin and the truth is elusive. It cites EgyptAir Flight 990, which crashed in October 1999, and all 217 people on board were killed. Pilot suicide was suggested but the programme contests that taped conversations between the four men in the cockpit showed no signs of stress as they tried to solve a technical problem just before the tragedy happened. Unfortunately, the listings also state "the film rakes over the known facts but rarely commits itself to any conclusions".
It should be an interesting programme, particularly to see if they suggest any alternative cause for the EgyptAir Flight 990 crash.
