Responding to Sterling and Air Berlin, Transavia.com is switching it's Copenhagen and Berlin flights from Rotterdam to Amsterdam effective august 22nd. In Berlin they will also switch airports from SXF to TXL. To free up capacity, they will cease the flights to OSL and NYO.
I am quite surprised by this move. Myself, I consider RTM as a hybrid airport between LCC (HV-flights) and also a city-airport in an important business town (VLM- and KL-operations). I also expected that the flight CPH-RTM was quite mixed by low-cost travelers and business travlers who actually needed to go to RTM. Apparently is not, and is AMS still the airport of choice in the Netherlands.
Very interesting is what will happen at RTM. Removing this flights will free up quite a few slots at RTM. Will HV fill them with holiday flights? Or (wishful thinking) will HV-owner KL use them to offer business-only 737 flights to the USA?
