KLM At LHR

Wed May 25, 2005 11:46 pm

Just a quick question, what 737 models do KLM fly into LHR from AMS?

The airline doesn't specify on its website and I was just curious, as I'll be on KL1018 in about a month from now and was hoping for a 739.

Thanks in advance.

Will KLM operate the 332's to LHR when the 763's are phased out?

Do KL still serve Rotterdam from LHR? What type is deployed on the LHR_Roterdam service? F100?

Why dont KL serve the likes of Groningen or Maastricht from London?

My flight from LHR to AMS on 8th June will be a 763 (as before).

My flight from AMS to LHR on 17th June ought to be a 739.

On particular days, two 763s operate AMS-LHR-AMS.

Orion,

the type of 737's really depend on the loads and aircraft availability, so it can be anything between 733 and 739 !

F50's are used for the LHR-RTM and LHR-EIN stretches...

Not enough traffic to warrant a MST or GRQ flight, besides it's VERY difficult and expensive to get LHR slots  Angry

GRQ is the HQ of the Dutch oil and gas company NAM, and has already got a daily flight to Aberdeen for that reason, operated by BD. Talks are underway to get a daily flight to Stavanger in Norway as well.

My best guess is 1018 will be operated by an 800, however KL does switch ac a lot depending on loads. My returnflight LHR-AMS a few weeks ago was late because of an equipment change at AMS and I was reseated because my seat was suddenly in Business Class  Wink

simple answer to that question, no they won't. KLM only orderd 8 A330's to replace 10 767's (other 2 are replaced with 777) they will need it on long-haul, and the A330 isn't really good for such a short route..

thrust me the demand is high and so the payload.. AMS-LHR is the most flown Route (see the earlier topic on this) , and sure, KL does send 300's 400's into LHR, but mostly its the 800/900

Is'nt the current 763 on the route just serving LHR in-between long/medium haul flights?

I think it is, but the main reason is cargo to and from Africa.

well, the LHR-RTM route is served by KLM cityhopper operating by Fokker-50's. Also there used to be a route between LHR-MST/EIN but I am not sure if KLC or KLM excel is still operating these routes.

KLC flies between EIN and LHR.

I also have a picture somewhere from a 743 at AMS coming from LHR on a scheduled passenger flight. Pretty large equipment I guess...

The Olympics are usually around the end of July and te beginning of August...

Maybe a diversion of the plane due to technical or operational reasons (Schihol closed due to fog, happens once in a while)? Isn't Heathrow one of the alternates for KLM widebodies? Seems that the picture is taken in the afternoon of early in the morning when looking at te shadow of the aircraft. Most flights from the west arrive early in the morning and flights from the far east arrive in the late afternoon.

I saw a KL 744 land at LHR about 6 years ago. There were normally 2 767 flights in the morning very close together (within an hour) and the 2nd one was cancelled that day (I was on the 1st one). KLM combined this 2nd and the 3rd flight into an available 744...
It happens...

I fly this route often. It does not normally operate on time when flying the AM flights from AMS-LHR. In fact I have not had that flight on time in 2 months. The 1007 flight is almost always delayed. The 1008 is not as bad as they make up the delay in LHR sometimes.
