UA 757's At DFW

Thu May 26, 2005 1:41 am

I was just looking at fare from DFW-LAX on UA, I saw there is a connection flight to DEN on a 757. UA 369. I looked at some random dates and saw it there too, anyone know when the 757 service started? (I have not been out to DFW in 5 months, so I'm behind)
Thanks

I believe the 757 has been running on DEN-DFW for a few weeks. UA will be running a single daily (xSun) 757 on the 9:25 a.m. departure flt 369 through 6 Sep (the week of Labor Day).

It surely is a nice addition to DFW!

That's cool. At this time, there are no DFW-located pictures of UA 757 here in airliners.net database... someone should, perhaps you, AA61Hvy  smile

Someone needs to go to OKC and get a '57 pic there. It is only running through June 2

Already done  Smile . I got this picture a couple of years ago, it was an equipment change from an A320 on the DEN-DFW route.

Does UA no longer fly DFW-LAX nonstop? They launched that service back in the early 2000s with A319s, but may have stopped it after 9/11.

I work the inbound leg of 369 DEN-PDX. We usually have longhaul DFW mail on it. The 757 is the best plane to work.

Yes, UA still has at least two non-stops each way DFW-LAX. I've seen the route run on both A319's and 733's. DFW-LAX has become a very low yield route with the FL competition keeping fares around $220.

There is also a once daily DFW-SFO nonstop on an A319.

Speaking of UA at DFW...........

It seems that UA is selling the farm at DFW. Yesterday, I booked a DFW-ORD-IAD-ORD-DFW routing on on UA so I could try the new E170. The fare was only $129 total for a same day routing on July 12.

I looked further, and it seems that every major east coast destinantion is less than $200 on UA in July. The fares out west are not bad either, with the SFO nonstop priced at only $260. This is about 100 less than the fare AA sets on the route. UA must be having trouble filling seats at DFW, but I'm certainly not going to complain about the outragously low fares.

Westbound, they run a A320 during the week and an A319 on weekends. Eastbound, its a daily A319. The flight is timed to connect in LAX with the South Pacific flights to MEL/SYD.

UA has been shrinking considerably in DFW steadily since before 9/11. As late as summer 2001, UA had 27 daily departures (9 ORDs, 11 DENs, 3 LAXs, 1 SFO and 3 IADs) all with mainline A319/A320/737 equipment. This summer, they'll be down to 19 of which only 15 are mainline and the other four are Express ERJ-170s.

UA is losing business in DFW and is probably offering promotional sales to drive up demand and revenue, especially on the ORD flights which I hear are the worst performers of all out of DFW (apparently, DEN and SFO do much better).

I'd take the E170 over mainline any day of the week... It's hardly a downgrade.

Im going MSN-DFW on an awards itinerary in a few weeks via DEN inbound and ORD outbound, and i get the 757 from DEN-DFW and the really really early flight @ 6am from DFW-ORD on the ERJ 170. I'm definitely looking forward to experiencing both of these relatively new to the DFW market airplanes, i have yet to fly on the 170 and im stoked.

the awesome part about this trip is i get back to MSN at like 130, drive back to dubuqe (1.5 hrs), go to class at 6pm, and then after class is over at 9 go out to celebrate a friends 21st bday...it's gonna be a long one!

I know loads are not the most accurate predictor of revenue, but I've flown DFW-ORD on UA probably five times since January. Probably four of those five were during "off-peak" times, and every flight was absolutely packed--2x 737, 1x 170, 2x 319.

The 170 beats the hell out of a CRJ-200 or CRJ-700, but it's still not even close to the comfort of a mainline flight.

That is interesting (and good for UA's sake) to hear, but UA has dramatically cut back DFW capacity (and capacity at almost all of its Texas stations) in the last few years, perhaps indicative of a dropoff in demand and or yields in these markets (DFW, IAH, AUS, SAT).

I know...comfy leather seats, clean and spacious lavs, first class section...those express flights can be absolutely miserable.  Wink

Of course, service on express is nothing when compared with international service...but most of the time, service on express flights beats the pants off of domestic mainline. Go CHQ!

TRUE, but UNITED DFW FREQUENCY has more service in its TEXAS line stations with 2x daily to SFO, 1 daily to LAX, 6x daily to DEN, 2X daily to IAD, and 8x daily(except 7 on SATURDAY)to ORD,ALL THESE ARE NONSTOPS, PAX loads are fairly full each day, but yields are terrible, because of the competition with AIRTRAN, AMERICA WEST and of course, AMERICAN AIRLINES. P.S. UNITED also handles ground and pax service for AIRCANADA 3X to YYZ.
