Air Canada A321 - Window Seat

Thu May 26, 2005 1:59 am

I am on a flight between YUL-YYC on June 15th. When I booked the flight a couple of weeks ago, the YYZ-YYC leg was scheduled to be an A320, however now it has been changed to an A321. I purchased the ticket (Tango) and paid extra to choose my seat (25A) which was a window on the 320. Now that it has been changed to an A321, row 25 has no window as it is right in back of a door. "Seatguru.com" tells me I have no window but lots of leg room. I have been on the 321 before bt I don't recall if row 25 actually did not have a window, or maybe a half-window (having to turn my head 120 degrees to look out the window just in back of me).

Is it possible to call AC up and have them change my seat since the aircraft has changed? Or should I take a chance and wait until I get to the airport and change it myself on the kiosk? I hate the aisle seats, I need a window  Smile

My luck is crap. On the last domestic AC 747-400 flight (YUL-YYZ), I got screwed and chose a window seat without a window. My flight back to YUL that same day, I was given a window seat, but again, in a row without a damn window!!!!

Cheers,

Brandon

I'd call now if I were you and get it changed.

A few years back I booked a window seat on a USAirways flight and got the "blank wall" seat instead. I was so pissed i wrote to the airline about my displeasure and they sent me a $50 voucher. Nowadays with websites like seatguru, I would not have made that mistake.

Same crap happenned to me on DL 757 on a JFK-LAX flight... I began complaining about my ¨anxiaty attacks if not looking out¨ (BS)... Very nice couple traded their seats with me!! to think of the things we go to for a window!

I hate that non-window seat, as it usually doesn't have the interior bump out for the window, and my shoulder is wedged against it and by the end of the flight, I am sore.

as for your seat, you have to pay extra to choose a seat? is that a cost cutting measure or something?

Well depending on how much of an issue legroom is, row 25 is a blessing in disguise. Many people have complained about the lack of legroom on Air Canada's 321, yet row 25 provides endless amounts of it. Additionally I believe 25A does have a window, it's just a small one in the emergency exit door. I guess its all personal preference, but I would personally like that change.

Okay.... I'm now in 27A... Now I'm happy. People complain about the lack of legroom in the 321, but I've always liked the aircraft. I just hope I don't get one of those former Air France 321s again. I know one went to CSA, but knowing my luck, I'll get one of them. Thanks for the input all.

Sort of - more like a revenue enhancing measure. Tango initially had a separate schedule and separate aircraft. It has now been reduced to a separate fare class on regular AC flights - you can save $, but have to pay for seat selection, among other limitations.

That is correct. The other fare classes gives you seat selection at no charge.

If you're in 27A , you'll be fine for sure anyway. I was on an AF 321 last Monday, seat 25F, and IIRC the exits were on row 23.
