AA Using 757 SEA-DFW

Thu May 26, 2005 5:27 am

Just an FYI, this route has been territory of the Mad Dog (MD-80) for as long as I can remember, unless you count DL, who no longer operates it (I believe they used 727, 752, 762). Does this have anything to do with AS beginning service? Is AA able to better compete with the 757?

AA has flown the 757s DFW-SEA during many peak summer seasons when just about every flight to SEA goes out packed -- SEA is just such a popular, excellent summer travel destination (I personally love it!).

Like Commavia said, AA has adjusted the equipment for summer loads for several years. Back in the 'good ole days', we even had DC-10s on the SEA-DFW route. Now that was non-revving!

Welcome to tourist season in Alaska . . .

Seattle has many cruise ships heading out to/arriving from Alaskan waters all summer . . .

It's not unusual to see a change in a/c or frequency of many carriers dealing in this tourist trade up here.

Interesting, I was unaware of this, but it makes sense. I like to be humbled now and then.

Sorry to piggy-back on your thread, but I was wondering where AA uses their 757s out of ORD. Is it only to MIA?

Don't LAX and SFO get 757 from ORD? Or do they use 738s or 763s?

I thought that AA had removed all 757s from ORD, and all MD-80s from MIA. Is this true?

Almost. All 737s were removed from ORD, not 757s.

AA also flies 757s out of ORD to JAC during the ski season, and sometimes to MCO. A friend of mine is a 757/767 pilot, so I have it on pretty good authority.

Anyone know if AA will reinstate 777 on the DFW-LAX-DFW ROUTE, they downgraded to a 757 this past month, It was great on that ROUTE, I know the fly 777(domectic service) to ORD and MIA, but the LAX ROUTE was great to take that aircraft in.

Granted that you said DL does not fly there 757 anymore....

DL's 757 to SEA (flt 366 or 316... Something like that) used to be packed with pax, air mail, and air cargo... We (DFW ACS) complained all the time that it was not operated as a 767-200/300. So with that being said and the fact that DL does not operate it anymore, I can not believe that AA does fly some sort of wide body between DFW-SEA... Because the market has to be there!
