The only inflight duty free purchase I ever made was on a TWA 747 MAD-JFK flight (returning from my Spain trip), back in April 1994.

I purchased a 4-plane boxed set of TWA models, made by Schabak in 1:600 scale: 747, 767, 727, and L-1011. The whole set sold for $20.

Easy. A bottle of vodka. Easy as that's the only thing I've ever bought on board! I do wonder why we subsidise the cost of flying a trolleyfull of duty free that hardly anybody buys from...

Thanks to B-shop-A-shop-A (LHR and LGW amongst others), you can now buy duty free *after* you land, as well as just after departures security and again halfway down the terminal, and again just before you board the plane in case you managed to miss the first two duty free shops...

In my case, wooden inflight meal set toy of JAL on a recent trip was a surprise.
Cake, carrot banana, apple, coffe cup hamburger bread spoon fork knife, entree of fish all on wooden tray set up like a economy class inflight meal. maybe best gift for kids around 5-6 years old but was also a good one for me!

I bought LEGO from SAS (Exclusive for SAS, with SAS sticker for the airplane) for my little young friend "Bunny". He was very happy to get it.

Also bought a Swiss St.Bernert stuffed dog, small puzzle toy (all swiss made) for the kids.

I like to buy stuffed bears waring uniforms from duty free. I think they are cute! And some exclusive stuffs are cool!!

Let's just blame it on yields.

Flew CHC to MEL a few years back on Air NZ. I was lucky to get a free upgrade from my Economy class ticket to Business Class, Row 1 seat J. This was my first taste of business class and I loved it!!!  veryhappy  I celebrated my good fortune by purchasing some lovely items of Monet Jewellery from the Sky Shop catalogue.

On another Trans-Tasman flight, I purchased an opal kangaroo stick pin. I have also many models of Qantas and Air NZ B767 and B747's.
