Booking DEN To LHR On UA June 13-June 26

Fri May 27, 2005 4:53 am

-To all UAL employees out there, I have a dear friend who has won some money and has always wanted to go to London. He is trying to remain loyal to UAL and the employees there. He is wondering though if he should book United. He is concerned because of the news media talk here in DEN. So, what should I tell him folks?

If your asking if UA will be out of business by then, I'll have to get back with you because my crystal ball is in the shop this week. But I can tell you that I would have no problem booking UA if I paid with a credit card. I booked a cruise with $750pp as a down payment a few years back and the company ceased operations. Trying get a refund from the cruise lines was hopeless but American Express gave me a full refund. I would imagine that the same would hold true for UA tickets. Just my  twocents

UA may be struggling, but they'll still be around in three weeks.

UA does not, however, fly direct to LHR from DEN. Only BA flies to London at all from Denver (it does actually connect to LHR on the plus side).

We knew UA does not fly nonstop out of DEN. He wants to fly on a 747-400. We have been looking at some different flights. He is just nervous of putting down the money, CC and then not being able to go.

If you still want him to be your friend, recommend any other airline then United.

Trust a former loyal United flyer (200,000+ plus miles), avoid United at all cost. I hope the Unions take them down.

That's another can of worms that you've just opened. And by can of worms, I mean Pandora's Box.

Doesn't BA upgrade it's DEN flight in the summer to a 744? It was a 772 at some point. I believe also that BA flies DEN-LGW, though...as DEN is not a Bermuda II city.

If you're concerned about UA, then look at BA out of DEN nonstop...if it's a 744, he wins. If he 's worried about UA, he wins by choosing BA.

UA flies 744's to LHR from IAD and SFO. #920 out of IAD, if I'm not mistaken, #919 coming home. #954 out of SFO, #955 coming home. I doubt he'd want to backtrack to SFO, so looks like IAD is the only choice then, given his preferences, and seat availability.
And the winner for best actress is....REESE WITHERSPOON for 'Walk the Line'!!!!!!!!

Always a 772, and only once daily to LHR.

I would book through a travel agent just this one time to be honest. I do not anticipate having to walk, but if we do most if not all of the reservation agents will be out as well. At least the agent would be able to provide reaccomadation on the same ticket.
