CO's 738s, Are They All Version 2 Yet?

Fri May 27, 2005 6:23 am

I just saw on seat guru that some of CO's 738s are switching over to Version 2(Is this correct terminology?), with more 1st class seats. Have they completed the process? If not, how would I be able to find out if my flight from EWR to FLL , CO1801 6-26-05, is on the newer version?

dont count on the 18 F on your flight.....we need more seats on our FL/LAS flights due to low yield.

Internally, CO calls these 73X's .. 18/132 seating (needed for the forth lav) Here's the deal... 18 craft (Ships 260-277) were delivered as X's with the original intention of the same for all new deliveries and conversion for the older machines. With the  dollarsign  losses caused by various reasons, the extra five seats with the 14/141 (and three lavs) regained priority and Ships 278-292 arrived as non-X. However, some nine conversion ship sets had already been purchased before the mind change and it has been decided to go ahead and use them as they, apparently, are no return/no refund  cheeky  . Unless things change, only a total of 27 aircraft will end up as 73X's.

In other words, call CO Reservations and ask if your flight is on a 73X, 738 (14F/141Y) or 73N (same as 738, but with winglets). In any case, it can change, so check again on the day of your departure. Only the 73X (of the CO -800s) has 18 first class seats.

The 'X' and 'N' stuff normally doesn't show in the res. system.. It should just show as a 738 ... Ask the agent to look at the seat map .. Jackpot if it's 5 first class rows.  cloudnine
