SR A332 Makes Emergency Landing At LHR Today

Sun May 29, 2005 4:11 am

Today at LHR I saw an unusual visitor: A Swiss A330-200 made an unscheduled landing on 27L. SnowJ and I were there, along with a lot of other (unidentified) spotters, all at Myrtle Avenue.

SnowJ got a photo of it, but I had forgotten to turn my camera back on (I turn it off between shots). Were any other A.netters there today?

Later today, after I got back from LHR, I found out the reason: A message from the Yahoo! LHR group said that the SR A332 had to divert to LHR due to a passenger medical emergency (unconscious).

Anyone have more details about the incident?

SR is no more, the flight code for Swiss is LX.

It was flight LX64 ZRH-MIA

There's no information on any news sites. However, I heard it on radio news one time today. They said the plane left LHR after 3 hours. No details on what kind of medical emergency it was though.

Funny, was today at ZRH on Dock E observation deck, and saw LX64 taking off, circling over the airport and flying out of my view. Nobody would have expect that the a/c would land approximately one hour later in LHR, cause of medical problems.
Strange though, that it stayed about 3 hours in LHR.

BTW, it was amazing today to spot at ZRH. Very nice weather, and lots of traffic from 10.00am-2.00pm.

Patrick

Does LX still operate the 332 on ZRH-LHR-ZRH?

AFAIK they were not allowed anymore by BA, as part of the 60 million loan for Swiss. They also had to give slots to BA.
