Thu Jun 02, 2005 1:59 am

Wanted to get a sense from people what orders will be announced for Boeing?

Types, airlines and numbers please.

Boeing doesn't set the timing of their product announcments. Rather, Boeing leaves the timing up to the preference of the airlines.

I understand that, I was just looking for opinions (informed or otherwise) from A.Net members.

Ok, my predictions...

LOT order for 6 + 6 787s
Formal launch of 737-900X with Lion Air & JAL as launch customers
Formal launch of 747Adv with Cargolux and Cathay as launch customers
Maybe some 787 orders from leasing companies
More 737 orders

If that were to happen, I would be more interested in what the livery would look like, considering the lack of metal.

In addition to what friendlyskies stated above, I believe that SQ, might order some 772LR, and UAE may also order some 772LR and more 773ER. Plus a few surprise 787 orders?  Smile

EK adding a 773ER/772LR isn't out of the question. Could go something like: dump order for 20 A346HGW, convert to 50 A350, replace A346 with 777 products.

True... but have the last 18 months been typical convention for Boeing? While they didn't hold the Air Canada, Northwest, and Air India bombshells for Paris... I'd expect something of mild suprise to be announced.

What have these surprises been in past years? I don't remember anything too interesting happening for B last year at Paris that would indicate a surprise should be expected every year.

"While Emirates is set to order a combination of A350s and Boeing's ultra-long range B777-200LRs, Qatar Airways is set to order as many as 50 to 60 B787s."

If Emirates is set to order 50 A350s, and Qatar Airways orders 50-60 787's, and the net orders are supposed to total 120 aircraft, then Emirates must also be set to buy 10-20 777-200LRs. Not bad.

Who is the new A380 Customer?

PARIS AIR SHOW Airbus says will announce new A380 order during air show
06.13.2005, 09:08 AM

PARIS (AFX) - Airbus SAS vice-president Philippe Delmas said the plane maker will announce a new order for its A380 double-decker 'superjumbo' at the Le Bourget air show.

Asked whether Airbus would be announcing a new A380 order this week, Delmas replied: 'One can expect that.'

Airbus will hold a press conference tomorrow morning.

The company has so far received 154 orders for the A380, of which 144 are firm deals. Breakeven on the project has been put as high as 300 planes should the dollar remain weak.

Airbus is owned 80 pct by the European Aeronautic Space and Defence Co (EADS) and 20 pct by BAE Systems PLC.

First Boeing order at the show , was 5 737-800 for FR.
Surely the confirmation of the 737-700 order by Sky Europe.
787 for QR is over as KL911 mentionned.
No way to see an EK order at Paris.
No way to see the official launch of the 747ADV at Paris , since it will probably be announced at the next Boeing boarding meeting at the end of this month.
Any new customers for 787s at Paris ? A mystery !!!!!!!!

I was hoping for LOT order to be made official, but they keep postponing it and now with A350 in the race it would be interesting to see who gets to renew LOTs widebody fleet...

Well it's heavily rumored that EK will indeed announce their 777 order at Le Bourget and wait until Dubai in November to announce their A350 commitment.

Where is this coming from? They only got (20) 777's non-specific to type.

Might the QR "order" for 60 A350s tip the scales for the 789 to EK, just out of shear competition?

I bet Boeing wouldn't trade the orders it received at Paris for the ones Airbus received.

Indeed, as most seem to be spectulative "commitments" from a few questionable (or at least extremely new) airlines with no track record or much of a business plan that Airbus seemed desperate to make then and there. We shall see, I suppose.

As far as Boeing "getting totally blown away", I'll only note that they outsold Airbus by a margin of 9 to 1 when it comes to actual firm orders - I really dont think Boeing had a bad week at all. They still have twice the number of firm orders to date, almost twice the number of announced commitments, and the year is hardly half over. And going by the number of rank announcements made at Paris, Id say Airbus is pretty well spent for the rest of the year until Emirates and a few others make their next mega-batch of orders sometime in September.
