Wheel Door Fell Off Plane Over Stockholm City

Thu Jun 02, 2005 5:12 am

A wheel door fell off a plane approaching Stockholm Bromma Airport this morning. It was Sun-Air flight BA8289 from Aarhus operated with a Jetstream J31 with 15 passengers and two pilots. It lost a piece of metal with a size about 100cm x 40cm over the central parts of Stockholm. The plane landed safetly and the wheel door is not found yet, fortunately it probably hit the water.

It was on this approach this happened:

I guess it's the metal piece visible to the right of the right landing gear that was missing.

So my question. How often does this happend that things fell off planes?

Damn, I would love to have an airplane part fall into my yard, no matter which part. I would keep it, that is for sure.
All the things you probably hate about travelling are warm reminders that I'm home

Why keep it? You could probably auction it on E-Bay & finance your pilot training.  Smile
