Do you have the website?

From what I heard the first flight will be HKG-LHR. And it is founded by ex-Dragonair Executives.

And yes it will be a B 747-400. But where will they get it from?

Oasis will not fly to LHR. They have applied for LGW, amongst other places like Milan, Cologne/Bonn, Vienna, and a couple of places in the US I forget. An advert in flight International is asking for engineers with PW4056 experience.

Will they offer business or first onboard? Also TV screens? Also food?

Heard that it will be a low cost carrier.

Nope.. from what I heard, Oasis Air will not provide any entertainment, food and all economy service..even though it is long haul.

The airline plans for LONG HAUL LOW COST OPERATIONS and one of the TV station reported that they are looking for LGW as their first station. Every passenger will need to purchase the food, in case they are hungry. Not sure about the beverage service though.

They are looking to charge approximately HK$4500 for LGW or approximately US$577

You can bring food onboard I suppose?

CX/SQ/QF/VS/BA's specials can easily beat that price.

HK$ 4500.....Should be all year round I guess?

Which TV station? Discovery? TVB Jade?

I think the 747-400 is destined to become the long-haul LCCs aircraft of choice. Think Japan domesic numbers on a HKG-LGW (via some very cheap LCC fuel stop Hub (Tianjin?). Clever stuff Oasis. 520 x HK$4,500 = US$300,809 per round trip. If it had passage right TJN-LGW it would earn a fortune.

The B 747-400 will continue to serve long haul full service carriers

I can't help thinking it was suicidal that Oasis picks London as an intended launch destination. Already the big boys (CX+BA+QF+VS) provide a daily frequency of up to 8 flights per day to Heathrow. And make no mistake that Cathay is already moving to launch a 4x daily flight to LHR, pending slot allocation. If history is meant to be a reliable guide to the future, the launch of Oasis will definitely be met with heavy discounting strategy by the big boys, say at a return fare of HKD3500 -- even 20% lower than that of the so-called long haul LCC. If so ever happened, Oasis could only find themselves in deep water...

If it was a guranteed walk on walk off fare, any plane, any time, I'd do it when I needed to. No change of reservations allowed.

Well Oasis must keep their fare low on an all year round basis. Otherwise it is hard for them to compete especially when other airlines are on specials.

BA and CX did a sensational promotion a few months ago between Hong Kong and London. It was HK$ 5000 for TWO, companion fare.

Why don't they beginn on less competitive markets , such as SPL , MUC , CDG ? HKG-LHR is crowded , and as CX oneWorld mentionned it's a suicide to come to London , as all the players on this market will be able to counter their low fares.
Anyway we can see the A380 will be needed in this market , and even the larger version (900) if it can reduce the costs.Surely in 10 years or less many of this giant will fly between these two cities.

That's why they choose Gatwick which is less busy compare to LHR.

Shouldn't they give cities like Madrid a try too?

Its from TVB.. which I believe TVB Jade also broadcast it as well..!!

I remember they are talking about Vienna and Milan as well.. as those stations currently have no direct flight with Hong Kong.. again.. just from my memory.. nothing definite here..!!
