I think redeyes, as uncomfortable as they are, are a great way to get to many latin destinations ex IAH, as well as a way to fit late business into one's day.

Many, many pax find red-eyes very convenient for a variety of reasons....including avoiding crowds at the airports. Both the IAH-DEN segment (which allows a business dinner before departure and the pax can still sleep at home in his/her own bed) and the DEN-IAH segment (which will allow pax to get to IAH or their connecting destination by the start of the business day) will work. Good move by CO.

Since it is an ERD, there are not that many seats to fill, hence it may be hard to get as a non-rev

Being an AA employee, non-revving on a red-eye can give me about the same kind of "odds" on getting on as if I were flying mid-day. There are quite a few business people who choose those flights in order to be somewhere on the East Coast early to mid-morning for meetings, etc. A lot of vacationers from Hawaii tend to take those flights also by taking an evening flight out of HNL to LAX, SFO, ORD, DFW, etc to connect to early morning flights to the East Coast.

I love 'Red-Eyes', no screaming brats, no seat mate with B.O. , very likely all 3 seats to yourself, ect.....If at all possible I try to book a 'red-eye' whenever the opportunity presents itself.

I too am a fan of red-eyes, from a convienence standpoint. It allows me to have the full day at my destination, and then I can sleep on the plane, getting me onto the East Coast at a reasonable hour where I can either take a mid-morning nap and be ready to go by noon, or work in the morning and crash earlier in the afternoon. As for how packed, for some reason, my midday flights have always been emptier than my red-eyes...go figure.

The PHX and ONT red eyes seem to do pretty well. PHX is an ERJ and ONT is a 733....just hope we don't get one in TUS...yikes! PHX departure is 01:35.

Continental doesn't have any ERD's. Only American Eagle has them. They could only use an ER3 or an ER4.

CO2076/7 is showing up as an ERJ-145XR, which is your standard 50-seater.

The EWR redeye, and to a lesser extent this DEN-IAH (since ERJ deliveries are ongoing), is part of an initiative to increase utilization with existing assets and personnel.

There has also been the persistent rumor of bringing back the IAH-EWR redeye we had in place during the 1990s. The XR has plenty long legs for the route, though, so you might see this sometime in the near future to feed the strong O/D traffic in the market.

This is indeed very cool. It may indeed be the nonrev special. But I must remind you that the DEN-IAH and DEN-EWR redeyes are seasonal only. The are only in the system for this summer at this time!!

In the case of EWR, nothing was added. The early a.m. flight was switched to the redeye for the summer for some odd reason.

Redeye flights are great for those who can sleep with noise in the back ground but for us who can't, they just don't make sense and it really affects you the next day. Who is COEX trying to fly from DEN to IAH? Those hours are very bad. They are going to get no more then 10 passengers on average.

I totally agree. Is there a bank leaving IAH at 7 a.m. ? I think you are right on for projected loads. As I said, nonrev special.

I checked on some fares between DEN-IAH on CO's website. They aren't offering any special fares on this flight. For the dates I checked the fares were the same for about every flight.
