What Is The Longest Flight You've Ever Been On?

Wed Apr 19, 2000 6:54 am

Just curious . . .

What was the longest flight you've ever been on? What class? How was it?

Mine was a twenty hour long CX YYZ-HKG.

Thanks

My longest flight is not all that long compared to others but anyways it was 8.5 hrs from Heathrow to Toronto Canada in economy on a Air Canada 767. The cool thing about it was it was the last chartered flight scheduled in October and there was only 30 passengers aboard. We were suppose to fly out at 3o'clock but flight was delayed 3 hrs and there was an aircraft change as well. Original a/c was 747 but anyways that was the first flight on a 767.

Mine was a 14-hour Chicago ORD-Tokyo Narita non-stop on a United 747-400- The movies were horrible, and I couldn't sleep, so I wound up reading 3 books on the flight...

I'm with you CV990.

Chicago-Tokyo, United 747-400, Business class/upper deck.

I personally liked the movies (Men in Black, Conspiracy Theory, cant remember the 3rd), and the food was very nice, not to mention the rest of the service and the comfort being in an exit row.

HNL-SYD was the longest nonstop flight I remember being on. It was in July, 1993 and that was on a Qantas 747-200. The economy seating was cramped, but the service was good. That's where I first discovered the pleasure of Victoria Bitter. The flight was about 10 hours in length, ans was a segment of my trip from Grande Prairie, AB to Cairns, QLD. YQU-YYC-YVR-HNL-SYD-CNS, that's the way my trip went - with four connections and a total of 25 or so hours!

it was either DFW-ORD-ZRH this summer on AA(biz class) or it was DFW-JFK-TLV(tel aviv) on LY biz-class a couple of years ago, i think the longer journey was DFW-JFK-TLV, going it was a freshly delivered 744 and the service was great and the mini tvs were great aswell, and i slept perfectly also, comming back-it wasn't so good because we were on an old 742, the biz-class seats were horrible and i couldn't sleep on that flight either

My longest is relatively short... On my first visit to Purdue, it took 9 hours to fly from San Diego to Chicago in a Super 80. There were many bad storms over the midwest, and we had to hold for a long time. Then, we landed in Omaha for refueling and departed, heading north to Canada and then east to Michigan before landing in chicago to circumnavigate the storms. We left SAN around 7 am (9 am in Chicago), and landed at ORD around 6 pm. Though we were on the ground waiting for fuel for about 30 minutes, we could not deplane because there were not enough gates for the many AA and UA planes diverted from Chicago.

My longest flight was LHR-JFK in an AA A300. PTV was great, EDTV was the movie they showed. It was only 7 hours, and no turbulence. Overall, it was a great flight.

My longest flight leg was SKG-ZRH-JFK with Crossair MD80 and Swissair MD-11. Eventhough I was traveling Y, the service was great.
Recently I traveled JFK-LHR (and vv) via Reykjavik (Keflavik-KEF) with Icelandair. Eventhough the 757's were a bit cramped, it was a great flight, the service was fine, the food was good! the movies recent, the drinks free  .
KEF airport is small, cosy, and clean we arrived on-time, and above all, it was cheap

Longest flight was LHR-SIN in April 1988 on British Airways 747-200 (stopping in Bahrain). Flying in Club World, but no PTVs - but much better service than you get now!

The longest flight for me was a 6 hour and 13 minute flight from BOS-LAX on February 14, 1986. Sure it was not any kind of LAX-SYD but fairly hair raising. The UAL DC-10-10 went around LAX God knows how many times. It was raining like heck, the ground was no where to be seen, and we landed from over the Pacific. It was the only time I have landed at LAX from over the ocean. When we finally landed the entire cabin vigorously clapped. It sure seemed like a longer flight than it was.

My flight will be on 26/4
PER-BWN-BKK-DXB-FRA with BI ~23:20hrs
then over 12:00hrs in FRA (I wish it was SIN)
and 2:00hrs FRA-KRK with LO it will be longest Maraton in my flying history

I will report when I come back to Australia

LAX-HKG

Wed Apr 19, 2000 6:55 pm

The longest non-stop segment for me is the 7246 miles between HKG and LAX, which I've flown on both Delta (MD11) and Cathay (744). The longest flight time has to be the Delta flight (on MD11 N806DE) from LAX-HKG at just around 15.5 hours.

TYO-PAR Via The Pole

Wed Apr 19, 2000 8:54 pm

Hi,

My longest NON-STOP Flight was in 1998 (November) from NRT to PAR (CDG) with AF 747-400.
Flight time was 15:55 minutes. We went over the pole therefore it took so long.
I was in Business and it was a good flight indeed.
It was the late evening flight out of NRT.
Today AF doesn't lfy this route anymore i mean they do fly NRT CDG but only via the TS route (Trans siberian). At that time they wanted to increase their capacity to Japan but failed to get the necessary permission from Russia so they deceided to fly over the pole.

Mine was 11,5 hours on a Delta 763ER from Vienna to ATL.

FRA to CVG on Md11 was pretty long too, just as A343 FRA-DFW.

I fly from Boston to Bangkok once a year via the U.S. West Coast and Japan or Korea. The entire trip takes about 24 to 28 hours. The longest single legs I've been on are ORD-NRT on NW and LAX-SEL on TG.

Longest ever - LHR-BOM-KUL-PER-MEL-AKL in the 1980s with BA - it was so long I can't even remember how many days I lost.

More recently - BNE-SIN-LHR with BA again and it was a trek including a 3 hour delay at Changi.

No more long flights from now - will always break them to save my back - Club World or no Club World!

My longest flight (not counting sectors on different airlines) Flight Air New Zealand NZ2 Auckland - Heathrow and Flight NZ1 LHR - AKL. Total flight time 24 hours (more or less) with a 90-120 minute stop at LAX. Also Auckland - Frankfurt return, but can't recall the flight number. Similar time though.

Have flown these sectors many times in both J & Y classes.

I had my longest trip just last week. I flew from Munich to Brisbane via London (LHR) and Hong Kong. Between entering the BA B757 in MUC and leaving the CX A330 in BNE were around 35 hours (including not very short transfer times)! But I had fun.

DFW to NRT on American 747SP in business class ---- 13.5 hours
Couple hours layover in Narita, then NRT to SGP on SIA 747, business class, upper deck. 7 hours.

Couple years ago I took this trip. I did stay in each city a day or two so really not one continuous flight. But still check this out:

DFW to LAX to NRT to HND to BPU to HND to KIX to ZRH to NCE to JFK to DFW

Started out heading west from Dallas and kept going west till I got home.
