Custom Air Transport 747's?

Sun Jun 05, 2005 1:12 am

Does anybody know if and when Custom Air Transport will be reciving their 747's? I'm not sure if they are getting them now that UPS has taken over Menlos Dayton hub. I've heard that by the end of 05 UPS will be doing most of the flying that CAT is doing now so I'm not sure if that means the end of CAT or if they find someone else to fly for?

By the end of 05, UPS will be doing ALL the flying of the former Menlo operation.

As much as I hate to see people lose their jobs, I think CAT going under is a good thing. I didnt know they were looking at 747's or how they would be able to afford them.

Does this include the WOA DC-10 that Menlo have now?

Yes, sir, I believe that it will. UPS has stated that it will close the DAY hub and service the heavyweight shipments (that Menlo was expert in) by running them through the Louisville superhub and some other places, using a minimal amount of extra UPS lift on top of existing UPS lift when possible. I.e. integrating the product into the existing air operation to the extent possible, and entirely in-house. This was a predictable outcome.
