United's New Livery......in Hawaii?

Tue Jun 07, 2005 11:33 am

This past Sunday Morning, passing in front of Honolulu International Airport, I think I saw what was the white portion of United's tail at the gate. Till now, I have never seen United's new livery in Hawaii and with that being typed, I wanted to know whether anyone else has seen it or if it's a new United flight to Hawaii with it's new colors?

best regards,

UA has indeed sent B772s, and even B763s in their new livery. There are photos of them splashed over MyAviation.net. UA also has sent their Star Alliance B772 to HNL.

Hope to get a photo of one soon, unfortunately I've missed those ops!

Has anyone seen any UA B752s in the new livery?

Most of the new colors UAs flights have been from Japan and 772s. The 763s come from the mainland, but i have yet to see one myself.

They might be desperate but not THAT bad. Where the hell did you get that idea?

I think UA has 1-2 daily flights out of HNL to SFO. Then 767's to LAX that go onto Denver (I think) and then the rest are all 757's. (Excluding all international flights into HNL out to international or from international to HNL --> USA.)

Thanks,

The 777s in the Star and new colors are probably headed to NRT or KIX. Those 777s are in the international configuration. To the mainland, UA operates 777-200 domestic-configurations (ORD, SFO), 767-300 domestic-configuration to LAX, SFO, DEN, and 757-200 to LAX, SFO. Therefore, HNL is due to see the 757 sometime, but no 777s or 767s from the mainland in the new colors (until they get painted, but right now only interntational ones are, I think).

PRairways, those photos aren't mine, I must give credit to Ha763 who took those nice shots! I wish I had gotten one of those birds on camera, hope so very soon.

I could've sworn seeing a new colors B772 of UA approach HNL from the mainland one afternoon, unless I was seeing things. The belly was brighter blue and the tail was whitish blue.

UA actually has 4-5 daily HNL-SFO roundtrips depending on time of year. LAX is the same. In the high season its mostly 763/772. In the low season its a 752/763 mix.

I know UA/TED have some A320s that fly overwater, to points in the Caribbean. But are there A320's certified to fly LAX/SFO to HNL/LIH/OGG/KOA? I would think no, but please correct me if I'm wrong. I would think the A320 would have to be ETOPS certified to fly those routes.

It was plain luck to find all three liveries lined up like that. I had to take a major detour to take those pictures. I only wish I could have gotten better pics. BTW, we've also gotten the Star Alliance 767 here as well.

We were in an open discussion on the TED expansions when this was posted. It was just a joke.
