Only the first few A320s delivered to AF and BA were the -100 series without wing fences. Of the first 10 delivered to BA, only 5 were delivered as -100s.

They don't have winglets, they have wingtip fences. They have had the fences since the advent of the A320-200.

Ok, essentially the difference is this:

The A320-100 was the original model, and came without the standard wingtip "fences" or the centre fuel tank meaning it had a lower range.

The A320-200 came later and along with upgrades to the layout of the autoflight system also had the centre fuel tanks and the wingtip "fences" that we all know the majority of A320's have today.

I am sure some if not all of those older -100's are still flying today.

The BA A320-100s are from the BCAL order

I believe every one of them is still flying

The first 19 aircraft were -100 series without winglets. The fisrt aircraft was retained as a test aircraft, 16 of the other 18 are flying with AF and BA - 11 with AF, 5 with BA and 2 out of service.

There is (or was) a GB Airways A320 based in Manchester flying with one set on the left missing.

I thought i was going mad. I had to walk back a bit and make sure i had seen the fence on teh right, then look at the left again. Strange
Where does the time go???

As what has been said, the -100 series didn't have winglets, all A320s had winglets when the -200 series were introduced.

Only 2 -100s have been written off. AF lost one int he infamous air show incident, and Air Inter lost one as well. Both happened in the same year (1988/1989). The remaining 17 are in service with airlines or with Airbus.

Then what about the A320 that came out with a four-wheel bogey?

Indian Airlines only?

IA only, and many of those have been refit with standard trucks.

So it wasn't a case of -100 vs -200, rather an option selected by customer?
What was the reason for the quad-bogey?
Unimproved runways?
I can guess the reason for the "re-conversion" was to standardize?

How many did IA have like this, I heard once; 10?

Does IA still have them?

It was about unimproved runways, and yes they wanted to standardize.
