I highly doubt that LH knew what was inside the parcels. They depend on the customer declaring the nature of the goods. Since A/A missiles contain explosives, they are a no-go on commercial flight anyway in accordance with IATA rules (the only exception are squibs for aircraft fire bottles, UN class 1.4. They can be shiped as company material (COMAT) to service a compny aircraft).

Wow, is that another scandal at Lufthansa?

This airline is featured frequently in the news lately regarding criminal actions, the German magazine "Der Spiegel" reported a few days ago that the German authorities are investigating because many Lufthansa pilots as well as F/A's are suspects in a fiscal fraud scandal.

Furthermore did I hear that the German aviation authority is very interested in them because they broke cockpit access laws and let people flying on the cockpit jumpseat despite these persons were not allowed to enter the cockpit according to the current law.

Luis,

I didn´t read the article completely, pero ahora he lleido el articulo completamente en espanol.
Either the guy didn´t know what was inside the parcels (and I doubt that the persons sending them would send them without packaging) or he might have been bribed. In the last case, throw the book at him and send him to jail.

Some years ago LH Cargo internal security had a major sting operation carried out at FRA in cooperation, where several managers got arrested and fired for stealing whole containers of cargo (e.g. cell phones) and selling them on eBay from their office computers.

Those missiles were sent by the Colombian Air Force. They were headed to Tel Aviv for maintenance. In total there were 13 missiles. 8 went a few days ago without problem, but they are investigating why the shipment of the other 5, made a stop in Caracas.

Everything is documented by the Colombian Air Force (FAC), all the permits and regulations for this type of activity are in order. The FAC had a contract with Israel Armament Industry (IAI) for the maintenance of these missiles and IAI is investigating the reasons for the stop in Caracas.

The Colombian embassy in Caracas, FAC and IAI are in the process of retrieving the missiles and clarify the issue with the Venezuelan government.
